Argentina Tours & Travel | Chaco National Park

The 37,000-acre Chaco National Park is part of the Gran Chaco that stretches north into Bolivia and Paraguay. It was established in 1954 to protect the region's red Quebracho Colorado tree as well as the scrubland and forests of the Eastern Chaco. The Quebracho, meaning "ax breaker" in Spanish, is valued for its hardwood and copious tannin, qualities that made the species exploited commercially elsewhere. The park, an interesting stop on Argentina tours, is located in Chaco Province.

The park is teeming with wildlife including caiman, deer, and the black howler monkey. The thorny leaves of the chaguar provide protection to several species including the puma.
