ACCOMMODATIONS
La Tercera is a working sheep ranch located on the eastern edge of Torres del Paine National Park. The estancia guests are well cared for, staying in a comfortable guest house fitting its surroundings with its own garden adjacent to the owners'/workers' house. The guest house has a large gallery living area where a roaring fire and cozy seating make a relaxing spot to enjoy majestic views of the Towers from the double height windows. Hot water is plentiful (showers and baths available). Central heating and wood burning stoves heat the house. Views are considered the most spectacular in the park. La Tercera makes a comfortable base for Patagonia hiking, Patagonia trekking and other Chile adventure vacations.

MEALS
La Tercera serves tasty Chilean meals, prepared with organic meats and produce, home baked breads and pastries and fresh jams and preserves made with fruit from the garden. The estancia also stocks a selection of reasonably-priced wine and beer. The house specialty is the delicious Pisco sour. Traditional gaucho barbeques under the stars are arranged on a regular basis.

EXCURSIONS
Two Southern Explorations guides will be on-site to organize each day’s Patagonia tour. Horseback riders may explore the area via a wide choice of trails on delightful Criollo horses accompanied by a Chilean baqueano and/or a Southern Explorations leader. Possible destinations include Laguna Amarga, Laguna Azul, Lago Paine, Zamora falls and a neighboring estancia. One trail leads to an area frequented by wild horses. Daily excursions into the park for hiking or sightseeing are also available. Guests may choose from half-day hikes such as the lovely walk to the Nordenskjold lookout or longer hikes such as the spectacular walk to the base of the Towers. Opportunities for fishing, bird watching and nature walks are also available.

The estancia staff will take excellent care of you. The estancia also stocks a selection of reasonably priced wine and beer and pisco sours are a specialty! Traditional gaucho barbeques under the stars are arranged on a regular basis.

Living at the estancia will be two Southern Explorations guides who will organize a daily program of activities. These guided activities are included in the cost. For riders, there is a large choice of trails which can be enjoyed on one of the estancia's delightful Criollo horses. Riding will be in the company of a Chilean baqueano, and/or a Southern Explorations leader. Clients can ride to Laguna Amarga, Laguna Azul, Lago Paine the Zamora Falls or another nearby estancia. There is also a trail that takes us to an area frequented by wild horses.

For non-riders, daily excursions into the Park for hiking or sightseeing are available. Hikers can choose from some shorter half day hikes such as the lovely walk to the Nordenskjold lookout or alternatively one of the longer hikes such as the spectacular walk to the base of the Towers. Fishing, bird watching and nature walks are also available.
