Santiago, Chile, is a charming, sophisticated city of contrasts set in the foothills of the Andes. To learn about its rich history, on this tour you'll visit the capital's most important sites including the historic downtown area surrounding the Plaza de Armas and the Presidential Palace. For a scenic view of Santiago, you'll visit the top of Cerro San Cristobal, a 600-ft hillside park above the city. During the tour you may visit one of Santiago's many excellent museums such as: the Cousino Mansion, lifestyles of the rich and famous perfectly preserved in the former home of one of Chile's illustrious 19th century families; the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, showcasing one of the world's most extensive collections of Latin American arts and crafts or La Chascona Museum, the former home of Nobel Prize winning Chilean, Pablo Neruda, which the poet designed and filled with an odd assortment of possessions. Neruda named his creation, "woman with tousled hair" after his third wife.

Take a whirlwind shopping tour through some of Santiago's most interesting retail enclaves. The first stop on this Chile tour will be the boutiques and galleries along fashionable Alonso de Cordova Avenue. Then, at one of the country's best gem shops, you'll learn about the semiprecious stone that Chile is famous for, lapis lazuli. Your tour ends at the picturesque outdoor Los Dominicos craft market, a quaint artisan village on the outskirts of Santiago where you may enjoy a stroll and purchase jewelry, black pottery, copperware and other arts and crafts typical of Chile from over 150 artists.
