Day 1 (Sat) QUITO

Day 2 (Sun) QUITO - BELLAVISTA CLOUD FOREST RESERVE

This morning starts with a power breakfast to prepare for the intense ride ahead. Descend on bicycles from Quito's closest volcano, Pichincha, at 10,760 feet all the way to the Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve, through some of the Andes' most awe-inspiring scenery. You'll ride for three to four hours over steep mountain terrain through lush forests until reaching the scenic Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve. After the exhilarating journey, spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the fascinating ecosystem surrounding you. Night brings with it the intriguing sounds of the nocturnal cloud forest, making your comfortable stay at the reserve even more exotic. (B, L, D)

Day 3 (Mon) BELLAVISTA CLOUD FOREST RESERVE

A private reserve protecting 1,800 acres of endangered cloud forest habitat, Bellavista is an area of great bio-diversity that includes 450 different bird species. Today's adventure explores the reserve's vast trail system with exotic waterfalls, vibrant orchids and plenty of butterflies. Throughout the day you'll learn about the region's rich ecology and ongoing conservation efforts to preserve it. After a fulfilling day of exploration, return to the lodge for a soothing evening in the cloud forest cabins. (B, L, D)

Day 4 (Tue) BELLAVISTA CLOUD FOREST RESERVE - ESMERALDAS
Get ready to raft Ecuadorian Class III whitewater! Experience Ecuador's famed warm rivers firsthand on the Rio Blanco or Toachi, depending on the season. Surrounded by the mystical rainforest, both rivers offer challenging rapids and abundant wildlife. After an invigorating run, watch a magnificent sunset on the Esmeraldas coast. (B, L)

Day 5 (Wed) ESMERALDAS - MOMPICHE
Observe a fascinating array of wildlife in their natural habitat, while kayaking the beautiful bay at Esmeraldas. This hands-on experience will teach you more about this amazing ecosystem as you spot blue-footed boobies, egrets and other fascinating sea birds. You may even experience the roar of the howler monkey at a large nature reserve nearby. Stay overnight at a lovely beach lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 6 (Thu) MOMPICHE - LAS TERRAZAS
Today begins with an invigorating sea kayaking trip along the coastline to the mangrove areas off the island port of Muisne. Spend the afternoon, paddling around the island exploring the fascinating landscape. In the late afternoon, return to the beach hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 7 (Fri) LAS TERRAZAS - QUITO

The morning is yours to relax on the beach and swim in the refreshing waters of the Pacific. In the afternoon, transfer to the Esmeraldas airport for your flight to Quito where you'll spend the night in a comfortable hotel. (B, L)

Day 8 (Sat) QUITO - RETURN HOME
Transfer to Quito's international airport to return home, marking the end of our services. If you like, Galapagos adventures, trip extensions to other regions or extra days in Quito can also be arranged. (B)

- The "dry season" in the Ecuadorian Andes is June - September and a short dry season in December and January. April - May is considered the Andean spring. All other months, one can expect some rain. Daytime temperatures range from 68ºF- 72ºF in the sun. Nighttime temperatures range from 45ºF - 48ºF. Rain can happen in any season; bringing quality rain gear is the best way to stay dry.
