Bellavista Cloud Forest Lodge Itinerary

Day 1 QUITO - BELLAVISTA
After breakfast, set out on a spectacular drive from Quito into the cloud forest.
Reaching the Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve around 10 AM gives you plenty of time to relax and explore the natural wonder of this magical place. During your time here, you have the freedom to choose from the activities listed below. Your night is spent comfortably in the charming accommodations at the Reserve. (B,L,D)

Day 2 BELLAVISTA - QUITO
Spend most of the day further exploring this idyllic area. In the late afternoon return to Quito, arriving around 5 PM, marking an end of Southern Explorations' services, or add an extra night to enjoy more of Quito. (B)

TRAILS

Bellavista offers six miles of trails that range from easy to challenging, and which last from thirty minutes to over three hours. Guides are available to share their knowledge of the cloud forest's fascinating ecology. All trails are clearly marked, and there is also a highly informative self-guided trail for those who prefer to explore on their own.

WATERFALLS

Bellavista has four major waterfalls and many smaller ones where one may swim in the heart of the cloud forest.

BIRDING

Spend hours watching countless hummingbirds and many other species including the winged mountain-tanager, masked trogon, tanager-finch, toucan barbet, plate-billed mountain-toucan and turquoise jay.

ORCHIDS

Explore the reserve, locating many species of gorgeous orchids that bloom throughout the year.

HORSES

Exploring the reserve on horseback is a unique way to experience the splendor of
Tandayapa valley and its surrounding mountains.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Whether you prefer the exhilaration of easy downhill bicycling or the invigorating challenge of climbing hills, bicycling through the reserve is a magical experience. Be on your own alone or with an accompanying vehicle. Various local tours are possible.
