Torres Del Paine Classic 'W' Hike Picture Gallery, sample what you'll see and do on this Patagonia Tour

Day 1

LAST HOPE SOUND - LOS TORRES PARK - SERRANO RIVER

After a delicious breakfast, take an exciting cruise up the fjord to the impressive Mt. Balmaceda. From there, a short hike will get you to the foot of the Serrano glacier. After lunch, you'll board a zodiac to cruise up the Serrano River exploring the expansive Bernardo O'Higgins National Park, passing the massive Tyndall glacier along the way before arriving at beautiful Torres del Paine National Park, a classic stop on any Chile tour. Camp on the banks of the peaceful Serrano River, with spectacular views of the Paine massif across the pampas. While a delicious dinner is prepared, stroll along the riverbank or enjoy a glass of Chilean wine and the view from camp.

Day 2

GREY GLACIER - PEHOE LAKE - FRENCH VALLEY - CAMP ITALIANO

Distance: 18.6 Km Est. Time: 6 hrs 500 ft elevation gain Today we will pack our lunches and transfer to Lago Grey where we will walk along the shores of these grey waters and admire the miracles of nature as turquoise icebergs are seen floating in the lake. The huge mass of white behind the icebergs is Grey Glacier, the largest in Torres del Paine. After our walk we will board the new Grey II launch and set off into the iceberg choked lake towards the walls of this spectacular Glacier. The short boat trip will give us up close and personal views of this spectacle as well as stunning views of Paine Grande and surrounding mountains. The boat will get us fairly close to the glacier where we will disembark and continue up along the shores of Grey Lake to the Mirador on foot. One of the classic Torres del Paine hikes, this climb up and out of the valley enjoys views of Grey glacier, the Patagonian icecap and innumerable mountains. We continue along the stunning blue water of Lago Pehoe to our destination and camp for the night in the beautiful French Valley at Camp Italiano. Rustic camp facilities with only pit toilettes.

Day 3

VALLE FRANCES - FRENCH GLACIER

Distance: 11 Km Est. Time: 5 hrs 1,700 ft elevation gain to Camp Britannica | 600 ft gain without reaching camp Britannica. Today we have all day to explore the remote French Valley up to the high country and the fantastic granite walls that enclose the valley. From these walls hangs the impressive French Glacier. Cascading avalanches of snow and ice is often seen and heard as we hike up the opposite side of the valley. On our full day of hiking we will enjoy fantastic views of the amphitheatre of granite peaks as well as the waterscapes below including lakes Pehoe, Scottsburg, Toro, and Nordenskjold. We return to Camp Italiano for the evening.

Day 4

LOS TORRES CAMP

Distance: 16.5 Km Est. Time: 7 hrs 200 ft elevation gain. Today's hiking takes us along the foothills of the Horns of Paine with the tranquil shores of Lake Nordjenskold on our right. If you are feeling especially adventurous, take a swim in the frigid waters of this spectacular lake, refreshing yourself for the remainder of the hike continuing towards the three granite spires that give Torres del Paine its name, the Towers of Paine. We will camp in the shadow of these monoliths in the organized Los Torres camp with full facilities.

Day 5

ASENCIO VALLEY - TOWERS OF PAINE

Distance: 9.5 Km Est. Time: 8 hrs 2,680 ft elevation gain. The most difficult hike of your Patagonia tour, today's route is arduous but worthwhile as we climb to the Towers themselves. A roundtrip hike we will climb up into the Ascending Valley and through beautiful old growth beech forests to a rock moraine just under the towers. A steep climb over the moraine will reward us with one of the most spectacular views in the park and, weather permitting, we will enjoy our last trail lunch at this amazing vantage point. Return to camp for our last night under the stars enjoying a fireside dinner.
