This is a fully comprehensive tour of the "City of Kings." This exciting tour begins at your hotel at 8:00 am. First is a visit to the Miraflores area, the downtown scene that boasts a view of the Pacific Ocean. Continue to the modern residential suburb of San Isidro, and then drive to the colonial area and the Plaza de Armas where you will see the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, and the City Hall. This Peru tour extension has been created for passengers who have an extra six to eight hours in Lima before a late night international flight home. Our knowledgeable guide picks you up at the Lima airport and escorts you on a flexible tour of Lima. You decide on activities and sights to see when you meet your guide. The tour can include visits to churches, museums, or Inca sites not yet experienced. Visits to the beach, San Isidro, or local markets for last minute shopping can also be arranged. We recommend that you end your Peru holiday with a stroll through the charming Miraflores area, admiring the beautiful views of the Peruvian coastline. In Miraflores you can finish up your shopping or enjoy one last taste of Lima's famous seafood dishes. (If you do find yourself with four or more hours before your flight home, we highly advise this tour as there is very little to do at the Lima airport.)

This is a Peru tour that visits Huilloc, a small community in the Andes Mountains, famous for specializing in hand-made weavings. Depart from your hotel in Cusco at 8:00 am and drive for two hours to Ollantaytambo. Continue for one hour on a scenic dirt road to Huilloc. Upon arrival, the people of the village personally have all their handy-work out on display. They perform an amazing weaving demonstration specifically for you. Enjoy up to two hours to visit with the community and bargain for these colorful weavings. On the way back to Cusco, stop Ollantaytambo to visit the fascinating Market of Pisac. A visit to this community helps to sustain the village and an unforgettable experience.

For an additional day of hiking on any of our Peru tours, consider a trek to the Cachicata quarry from the Sacred Valley. Offering a fascinating look into the engineering ingenuity of the Inca civilization, Cachicata is where the Incas formed boulders for some of their ambitious building projects miles away such as the Ollantaytambo fortress. This invigorating and scenic hike takes 3 to 4 hours, across the Urubamba River on an ascending trail that affords panoramic vistas of the Ollantaytambo valley, the Vilcanota mountain range and Mount Veronica (18,745 ft.) along the way. We'll lunch surrounded by magnificent views before returning to the Sacred Valley or Cusco.

Add a day to your Machu Picchu tour learning about ancient agricultural techniques and exploring the picturesque farmland of the Urubamba Valley. It's an area that time has passed by and most tourists have not yet discovered. The day's first stop is the Inca ruin at Moray to view three adjoining agricultural terraces with different microclimates that archeologists believe were likely used for crop experiments. Traveling further back in history, the next stop is the unique salt terraces near the colonial village of Maras. Fed by a heated subterranean stream, the extensive operation has produced salt since before the Incas arrived. These terraces are distinctive for their sheer number as well as for the unusual brown and white patterns created by the soil and salt. A picnic lunch in the tranquil Sacred Valley completes the day, returning you to your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley by late afternoon.

How many people can say they've gone paragliding in the Andes? On this Peru trip extension, you'll soar above the Sacred Valley in a tandem harness with a certified pilot. By catching thermals, the warm rising air currents, you'll experience the sensation of free-flight in the Inca heartland. We offer two versions of this exhilarating Peru tour. The trip most people choose normally lasts 15-30 minutes, depending on weather and wind conditions.
For travelers interested in generating extra adrenaline, we offer an even more exciting 45 minute to two hour flight, traveling some 19 miles (30 km) from the Sacred Valley to the outskirts of Cusco, landing at the ancient ruins of the Inca fortress, Sacsayhuaman. This Peru tour goes off the beaten path into the countryside to glimpse the traditional life of the Andean people in the Cusco area. In visits to five diverse villages, you'll learn about the regional cuisine, watch bread being made, see an antique textile factory and bird watch at a highland lake prolific with Andean waterfowl.
Depart from Cusco in a private van for an early morning drive across the scenic mountainous plains beyond Cusco where small farms produce corn, barley, vegetables and other Peruvian crops. Our first stop is the town of Saylla, a small village famous for its pork dishes. We travel on to Tipon where the specialty is Cuy (guinea pig). Our next stop on this Peru tour is the small town of Oropesa, famous for its sweet bread baked in enormous ovens. We'll tour the operation of one of the bread makers and get to sample delectable sweet bread fresh from the oven. Next, we visit Lucre and its local textile museum that dates back to 1861. For a change of pace, we'll stop for some bird watching at scenic Lake Huacarpay teeming with over 100 different species of birds. We then stop for an exquisite picnic lunch in the area with fantastic views. We finish our tour in Pinipampa, a small village that makes the roof textiles for all of Cusco. At the end of the day we will stop back in Tipon for those interested in trying the local delicacy.

There are two options for 1 day rafting trips from Cusco.
Option 1: Cusco - Hambutio - Pisaq - Cusco
This one day rafting adventure is available year-round for Peru tours in the Cusco area. Stunning scenery highlights this spectacular trip. Depart from Cusco at 7:30 am and drive for forty minutes to the town of Hambutio, in the Sacred Valley. After a safety briefing, you begin an exciting day of introductory river rafting down the Urubamba River. Stop for lunch on a sandy beach midway and then continue down the rapids to our take-out-point. A quick change of clothes and ride to the town of Pisaq. Here, visit the mysterious Pisac ruins, returning to Cusco late in the afternoon.
Option 2: Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Cusco
This stretch of white water rafting is the more intense of the two rafting options. Depart Cusco at 7:30 am for an hour drive to our put-in. After a safety briefing, we begin rafting small rapids and calmer stretches to practice the basics of river running technique. While on the calmer stretches, pass Inca ruins and terraces, experiencing the amazing history of these Inca architectural feats. Also, pass under an ancient Inca bridge. Later in the day, the rapids increase in difficulty. Stop to scout the rapids at Ollantaytambo Station for an adrenaline-filled finale to the river journey. After lunch, explore the Inca town and ruins of Ollantaytambo, before returning to Cusco.
