This tour combines a visit to Arequipa, the beautiful "White City" of southern Peru, with a two-day excursion to the Colca canyon. Arequipa is visually stunning because of the white volcanic rock commonly used in colonial construction there. Colca canyon is one of the world's deepest gorges, where at the Cruz del Condor lookout, one may observe the Andean Condor, a magnificent bird with a wingspan of up to nearly nine-feet. This gorgeous flora and fauna is a highlight of any Peru tour.

Day 1 LIMA - AREQUIPA View Arequipa accommodations picture gallery Transfer to the airport for the flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, you'll have a chance to relax or explore the city. In the afternoon, you'll take a city tour, visiting Yanahuara, La Campina and the Convent of Santa Catalina, famous for its labyrinth of secluded quarters. Day 2 AREQUIPA - CHIVAY View Chivay accommodations picture gallery Leaving the city behind, slowly ascend to the highland Savannah or Puna, with an amazing view of Mt. Misti and the other surrounding volcanoes. You'll see herds of llamas, alpacas and the endangered vicuña, in a stark altiplano landscape on this scenic portion of your Peru tour. End the day with a descent into the upper Colca canyon and Chivay, staying overnight at a charming lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 3 COLCA CANYON - AREQUIPA View Arequipa accommodations picture gallery Make an early departure to Cruz del Condor, the viewpoint perched over the deepest part of this renowned canyon where condors leave their rocky sanctuary to slowly ascend over the horizon with the morning's warm air currents. You'll arrive back at your hotel in the afternoon. (B)
Day 4 AREQUIPA - OUT In the morning, you'll be transferred to the airport for a connecting flight to Lima or Cusco. (B)
