Moderate
Participants should be reasonably fit and be able to get around easily since travel will involve walking each day, getting in/out of private vans, planes, boats, and zodiacs. Trips may include hiking of two to four hours on some days with minimal elevation gain or loss, sustained walking at higher altitudes, and/or other similar level physical activities.

Difficult
Participants should be prepared for full-day hikes most days on inconsistent terrain, with some hikes including significant elevation gain or loss and at higher elevations (up to 12,000 ft). Many trips include wilderness camping with support from porters, horses, or other assistance. Trips may also include other activities (such as horseback riding, mountain bicycling, and kayaking) that require no previous experience although clients should have a sufficient fitness level.

Strenuous
These expeditions are for the adventurer who is in good physical condition able to hike on full-day treks over variable terrain and high altitude passes (up to 14,000 ft). Many trips include camping in remote areas and/or high altitude sites, possible rugged travel conditions invarying temperature and weather conditions, and trekking unsupported by porters, horses, or other assistance for up to 2 days. Trips may also involve many days of demanding Class IV-V rapids, longer sea kayaking trips, horseback riding, and/or mountain bicycling.
