2015 marks Southern Explorations’ 10th year in business. What started as a two-person operation in a garage has grown into a company with destination coordinators in several countries, customers from throughout the world and awards from the national travel media for our authentic trips and sustainability values. Southern Explorations has become one of the leaders in the industry for customized, private adventure tours. Not only does the company offer monthly departures for all trips, we also have the capability to offer any trip for any dates that fit the traveler’s schedule even if the group is as small as two!
ADVENTURE RE-DEFINED
At first, our trips catered mostly to travelers interested in whitewater rafting or trekking in remote locations, camping along the way. Over the past decade,
adventure travel has evolved. These days a wide range of people both in age and physical condition want to visit such destinations as Machu Picchu or hike the legendary trails of Patagonia so we’ve added lots of less rigorous itineraries. It turns out too that for many of our passengers, a taste for adventure extends to the palate. Today among our trips you’ll find options for wine tasting and learning about culinary traditions. And for the growing segment of travelers who want to explore and be pampered too, we’ve added luxury lodging options and itineraries, as well as glamping in some places. As your travel desires change, so will we.
CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY CHANGES TO SOUTHERN EXPLORATIONS WEBSITE
Like companies, websites generally start small. When we established ours, we were arranging trips to just five countries (instead of nine plus Antarctica), and our site contained only basic information about our destinations. In addition to more trips, over the years we’ve added website articles about everything from where to watch tango in Buenos Aires to how to fit penguins into an itinerary. Now we’ve streamlined our old site to make it easier for customers to plan the trip of a lifetime, including being able to book it on line.
