Amazon by Cruise & Lodge

This morning, you are transferred to the Quito airport for a flight over the high Andes to Coca.  Upon arrival, you are met by your jungle lodge representatives and then travel to the lodge by motorized canoe down the Napo River, one of the main tributaries of the Amazon River. Upon arrival, receive a welcome orientation with refreshments and learn about the exciting activities that you’ll enjoy over the next few days. After checking into your comfortable jungle accommodations, you’ll enjoy your first activity. Tonight, settle in with a deliciously prepared dinner by the lodge chefs and a cold refreshing drink.  (B,L,D)

The next couple days are filled with various exciting activities. You’ll enjoy guided jungle walks during the day with your naturalist guide who will discuss the flora and fauna, as well as an native guide that will teach you about medicinal plants and how indigenous peoples use the forest. Explore the lake and side creeks in dugout canoe rides, where luxuriant orchids, bromeliads and palms thrive and seek out wildlife like the tiny pygmy marmoset. Bird watching, chasing playful monkeys with your eyes, nighttime nature walks, a visit to the parrot clay lick and exploring the butterfly house will keep you busy! A jungle highlight is climbing the Kapok tower and the canopy walkway where you’ll experience the jungle from the top, allowing you to see the vast jungle vegetation and the wildlife that lives in the treetops. You’ll may have an opportunity to visit local communities or perhaps the parrot clay lick. Exact detail depend on which Amazon Jungle Lodge you choose! (B,L,D)

Enjoy an optional early morning activity before breakfast. Then, your Amazon journey continues as we transfer you to the pier to embark on the next part of your Amazon adventure, a cruise on the Manatee or the Anakonda!

Once onboard, receive a warm welcome!  Once you have settled, you’ll be joined by expert local naturalist guides who will provide you with a brief and informative introduction to the Ecuadorian Amazon, after which guests will have their first opportunity to discover the exciting features of the cruise ship: spacious social areas, comfortable suites, and the observation deck that allows you to admire the changing rainforest landscape as we glide down the Napo River. After dinner, you will plunge straight into the Amazon by going for a nighttime forest walk to observe the forest’s nocturnal activity and experience the thrill of the vivid noises and aromas that come from so much biodiversity. Each day you’ll enjoy changing scenery as your vessel navigates the jungle waters of the might Amazon rainforest. Your itinerary details will vary depending on which cruise you choose. You can expect a variety of activities ranging from jungle hikes, kayaking, canoeing, night walks, community visits, parrot clay lick, canopy towers, are more! One of the perks of being on an amazon cruise is sitting on the observation deck, where you can watch the scenery float by, look for wildlife, snap amazing photos, or enjoy an icy cold beverage! Each day, you’ll learn all about the flora, fauna, and local human and natural history of the region from your knowledgeable guides.
