Experience Arequipa, the beautiful “White City” of southern Peru, on this four day excursion that includes a visit to Colca Canyon. Arequipa’s visually stunning white volcanic rock was commonly used in colonial construction in the region.
Colca Canyon is one of the world’s deepest gorges, where at the Cruz del Condor lookout one may observe the Andean Condor, a magnificent bird with a wingspan of up to nearly nine feet. This gorgeous flora and fauna is a highlight of any Peru tour.

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, you’ll have a chance to relax or explore the city. In the afternoon, you’ll take a city tour, visiting Yanahuara, La Campina and the Convent of Santa Catalina, famous for its labyrinth of secluded quarters. (B)
Leaving the city behind by private van, your Peru tour ascends to the highland savannah, or puna, for an amazing view of Mt. El Misti and more distant snowcapped volcanoes. On this high-altitude desert, you’ll see herds of llamas, alpacas and the endangered vicua. From this high point you descend into the Colca Valley where you will pass the settlements of Chivay and Coporaque before arriving at the Colca Lodge near Yanque. This afternoon you will have a chance to relax in the thermal bathes at the lodge or walk into the nearby town. Several self-guided hikes are also possible. (B)
Make an early departure to Cruz del Condor, the viewpoint perched over the deepest part of this renowned canyon where condors leave their rocky sanctuary to slowly ascend over the horizon with the morning’s warm air currents. You’ll arrive back at your Arequipa hotel in the afternoon. (B)
In the morning, you’ll be transferred to the airport for a connecting flight to Lima or Cusco. (B)
