TALK TO A TRAVEL EXPERTDepart from Cusco in a private van for an early morning drive across the scenic mountainous plains where small farms produce corn, barley, vegetables and other Peruvian crops. The first stop is the town of Saylla, a small village famous for its pork dishes. Then you travel on to Tipon where the specialty is Cuy (guinea pig). Your next destination on this Peru tour is the small town of Oropesa, famous for its sweet bread baked in enormous ovens. You’ll tour one of the bread-making operations and get to sample delectable sweet bread fresh from the oven. Next, you visit Lucre and its local textile museum that dates back to 1861. For a change of pace, you’ll stop for some bird watching at scenic Lake Huacarpay teeming with over 100 different species of birds. You then stop for an exquisite picnic lunch in the area with fantastic views. The tour finishes in Pinipampa, a small village that makes the roof textiles for all of Cusco. At the end of the day you will stop back in Tipon for those interested in trying the local delicacy.
