Day 1 (Sat) SAN JOSÉ

Arrival in the capital and transfer to your hotel. If you have time to spare, optional city tours can be arranged.

Day 2 (Sun) SAN JOSÉ - TORTUGUERO
Today begins three fascinating days in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. Depart from San José on a thirty minute flight to reach this secluded area. After a delicious breakfast at Pachira Lodge, you may choose to take a late morning hike to Tortuguero Hill or travel along the Tortuguero canals in search of exciting Costa Rican wildlife. Enjoy a fabulous lunch at the lodge and then visit the colorful village of Tortuguero. Return to Pachira Lodge for the night. (B,L,D)

Day 3 (Mon) TORTUGUERO
A hearty buffet breakfast begins this adventure-filled day of your Costa Rica ecotour. Depending on the weather conditions, enjoy a guided jungle walk to Tortuguero Hill or a boat tour along the Tortuguero canals. Return for lunch at the lodge and then go out for a walk along the hotel's private trails, or boat through yet unexplored canals. Dinner will be served at Pachira Lodge, the hotel where you will spend the night. (B,L,D)

Day 4 (Tue) TORTUGUERO - MANUEL ANTONIO

Travel early to the Tortuguero airstrip for the return flight to San José, switch planes and take the thirty minute flight to Quepos, where you'll be transported to your comfortable hotel. Spend the afternoon in Manuel Antonio National Park, relaxing on the sunny beach, or, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, go sea kayaking, horseback riding, coastal paddling, hiking in the rainforest or sport fishing. Manuel Antonio is one of the most flourishing locations in Costa Rica, where spectacular sandy white beaches meet forest-covered hills. Located on the central Pacific coast and covering an area of just 1,688 acres, Manuel Antonio National Park protects beautiful beaches, the unique formation of Punta Catedral, stunning mangroves, quaint nearby islands and a humid tropical forest, a lovely stop on this Costa Rica ecological tour. The climate is warm, humid, and wet year-round. You will spend a comfortable night at a local hotel. (B)

Day 5 (Wed) SAVEGRE RIVER RAFTING

After breakfast, travel to the Savegre River for a full day adventure including a panoramic 4 wheel drive into the remote back country. The Savegre River offers an exciting 4 hour Class II/III/IV rafting challenge, one of the most thrilling events of any Costa Rica tour. Along the way, there are great swimming holes and a large variety of birds and primary jungles. You will stop at a beautiful waterfall for some snacks, and lunch will be served at the Eco-tourism Lodge Coope Silencio at the end of the trip. After conquering the river, return to the hotel to spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool or exploring the beautiful surroundings. Overnight at a hotel in Manuel Antonio. (B, L)
