Day 1 (Sat) SAN JOSÉ

Arrival at the San José International Airport where a Southern Explorations representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at a hotel in San Jose.

Day 2 (Sun) SAN JOSÉ - CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK / CASA CORCOVADO

Today you will start your Costa Rica Tour in the morning and transfer to the local airport for a forty-five-minute flight to Palmar Sur. Upon arrival, Casa Corcovado staff will take you thirty minutes by bus to La Hacienda, located at the Sierpe dock where you will then travel ninety minutes down river by boat, viewing mangrove wetlands until you arrive at Casa Corcovado. A welcome cocktail will be served before lunch. The afternoon you'll have free to explore the nature trails and the beach as you continue your Costa Rica tour. Overnight at Casa Corcovado.(B,L,D)

Day 3-4 (Mon & Tue) CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK / CASA CORCOVADO

These two memorable days of your Costa Rica ecological tour will be spent viewing wildlife. The wilderness park is home to many endangered species: monkeys, jaguars and tapirs as well as 400 bird species including the country's largest population of scarlet macaws, making it a popular stop for tropical biologists and ecotourists alike. On these days you will enjoy full-day excursions to Corcovado National Park and Cano Island Biological Reserve accompanied by a nature guide (the order of the tours may vary depending on weather conditions). The tour to Cano Island includes snorkeling gear. Picnic lunch will be provided on both tours. You'll return to the lodge in the afternoon. Overnight at Casa Corcovado. (B,L,D)

Day 5 (Wed) CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK - MANUEL ANTONIO

Morning departure (depending upon the tides) for a short flight to Quepos where you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel. Spend this afternoon of your Costa Rica adventure at your leisure, exploring the beaches and charming town of Manuel Antonio. Overnight at a nearby hotel. (B)

Day 6 (Thu) MANUEL ANTONIO - SAVEGRE RIVER RAFTING

After breakfast, travel to the Savegre River for a full day adventure including a panoramic 4-wheel drive into the remote back country. The Savegre River offers an exciting 4 hour Class II/III/IV rafting challenge, one of the most thrilling events of any Costa Rica tour. Along the way, there are great swimming holes and a large variety of birds and primary jungles. You will stop at a beautiful waterfall for some snacks, and lunch will be served at the Eco-tourism Lodge Coope Silencio at the end of the trip. After conquering the river, return to the hotel to spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool or exploring the beautiful surroundings. Overnight at a hotel in Manuel Antonio. (B, L)

Day 7 (Fri) MANUEL ANTONIO TOUR AND FREE AFTERNOON

This morning you will take a guided tour in Manuel Antonio National Park, an important habitat for the endangered squirrel monkey and an exciting stop on your Costa Rica ecological tour. The park is also known for its white sand beaches surrounded by tropical forests, its marine life and mangrove swamps. Regularly observed wildlife include white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, sloths, armadillos, and iguanas and the park is home to 350 bird species. You'll see the unique formation of Punta Catedral, with its views of bird reserves and shoreline evergreen forests. After the tour, you will have a free afternoon to explore the area or relax on the beach. Spend a final night at the hotel. (B)

Day 8 (Sat) MANUEL ANTONIO - SAN JOSÉ
